Oven temperature conversion
350 °F is 176.7 °C, which you would set as 180 °C. Type any oven temperature to convert it exactly, then round to what your dial shows.
Oven temperature chart, 250 to 500 °F
Exact Celsius from the formula, and the same value rounded to the nearest 10 °C.
| Fahrenheit | Exact Celsius | Rounded |
|---|---|---|
| 250 °F | 121.1 °C | 120 °C |
| 275 °F | 135 °C | 140 °C |
| 300 °F | 148.9 °C | 150 °C |
| 325 °F | 162.8 °C | 160 °C |
| 350 °F | 176.7 °C | 180 °C |
| 375 °F | 190.6 °C | 190 °C |
| 400 °F | 204.4 °C | 200 °C |
| 425 °F | 218.3 °C | 220 °C |
| 450 °F | 232.2 °C | 230 °C |
| 475 °F | 246.1 °C | 250 °C |
| 500 °F | 260 °C | 260 °C |
°C = (°F − 32) ÷ 1.8and back: °F = °C × 1.8 + 32. Both are exact (NIST Handbook 44, Appendix C).
Example: 375 °F → (375 − 32) ÷ 1.8 = 190.6 °C, which rounds to 190 °C. Rounding to the nearest 10 °C moves the oven by at most 5 °C (9 °F). Source: NIST Handbook 44, Appendix C.

Old recipe terms: slow, moderate, hot
Older recipes name a heat instead of a number. NIST gives these modern equivalents.
| Recipe says | °F | °C |
|---|---|---|
| Cool | 200 | 90 |
| Very slow | 250 | 120 |
| Slow | 300–325 | 150–160 |
| Moderately slow | 325–350 | 160–180 |
| Moderate | 350–375 | 180–190 |
| Moderately hot | 375–400 | 190–200 |
| Hot | 400–450 | 200–230 |
| Very hot | 450–500 | 230–260 |

Questions
- What is 350 °F in Celsius?
- 176.7 °C exactly. Most recipes and NIST’s oven chart round it to 180 °C.
- What is 180 °C in Fahrenheit?
- 356 °F exactly. The nearest common US setting is 350 °F.
- What is 400 °F in Celsius?
- 204.4 °C exactly, usually set as 200 °C.
- How do I convert Fahrenheit to Celsius?
- Subtract 32, then divide by 1.8: °C = (°F − 32) ÷ 1.8. To go back, multiply by 1.8 and add 32. Both formulas are exact (NIST Handbook 44).
- Does this chart cover convection ovens or gas marks?
- No. It converts the temperature number only. We have not found an official US source for convection adjustments or gas mark numbers, so follow your oven’s manual or the recipe for those.
